Oh my goodness, we struggled coming up with the perfect centerpiece for this wedding. Camrie had an idea in her mind of what she wanted and tried to explain it to me. I just wasn't getting it. I purchased vases only to hate them later. Thank goodness you can return things, right? One day while searching Pinterest, I came across THE centerpiece. It was exactly what she ordered, and now that I had a picture I could easily recreate it.
Once again, thank you Pinterest. After I had a photo, the rest came easy. I returned vase to the Dollar Tree and exchanged them for the margarita glasses. I made a few trips to the DI for the bumpy glass bud vases (I have no idea what they are called). Purchased glass votive's from Amazon and asked and asked and asked around for wine glasses. A friend at work knew a friend who had several, THANK YOU! (saved about $20).
I searched Pinterest for the trick to take the labels off. All I had to do was soak the bottles in the sink filled with HOT water, dawn and baking soda. Came off nicely. I then ran them through the dishwasher and had to wait a few weeks for the weather to cooperate before painting them gold. I love them and think they are beautiful.
I was nervous to paint the bud vases. How the heck do you do it? Do you paint the inside (but then how do you put water in the vase for the roses) Do you just paint the outside? What kind of paint do you use? Well, I just winged it and we all LOVE how they turned out. I purchased white chalk paint from Walmart and spay painted the outside of each vase. I think Camrie and I will be fighting over who get to keep them after the reception.
I do not think they make these vases anymore. I highly recommend you stake out your local thrift store and but all that you can and paint them white. They turned out gorgeous!
Now for the flowers. I called a local floral shop and found out that one rose will cost me $4, YIKES! $4 times 4 roses times 8 tables = Brett is broke! I was hoping a sale on flowers Joann's would do the trick - NOPE! One rose there can cost $10 and a 50% off sale is still too expensive. So I googled fresh flowers and found a place called Global Rose. I can get 75 roses for $100. That is enough roses for the centerpieces, roses to decorate the cake with and roses to put in vases. It's a win win! I pray they show up on time and are beautiful.
